Judgments and liens - Court appointed judgments placed on your credit report are there for at least 6 years from the date the judgment was granted. Generally judgments that are paid off within a month will be removed from your personal or business credit report, once you receive the certificate of satisfaction from the courts. Any judgments paid after a month will remain on your credit report however will be marked as “satisfied” upon receipt of the certificate.
If for some reason you feel CCJ was incorrectly filed against you, you should contact the county courts issuing the judgment make sure to have the file case number available. If they find the information is incorrect they will remove the CCJ from your records.
Bankruptcy - In the case of a declared bankruptcy the credit reporting agencies will receive the information from the local news publications or the Official Gazettes. This too remains on your credit report for up to six years following the date the bankruptcy was declared. In the case where the bankruptcy is discharged you should get a copy of the certificated and provide it to the credit reporting agency and have your credit report updated.
